💌 Montrose Moments: A Little Love at Lunchtime
To our Montrose neighbors—if you’ve ever arrived at the post office only to find the doors closed promptly at noon, you know the quiet charm of our little slice of the Eastern Shore. While the rest of the world rushes on, our post office keeps its old rhythm: open mornings, a sacred pause for lunch, and reopen by mid-afternoon. But here’s the real story whispered beneath the pines and live oaks—someone’s been leaving handwritten love letters in the blue mailbox out front. Not addressed to a person, but to us. The neighborhood. The people. The trees. Even the air.
Each week, a new envelope—simple, stamped, and filled with words like: “Thank you for your kindness, Montrose. For the way you hold space for old trees and slow days.” No name. No return address. Just warmth. Some folks think it’s the retired teacher from the corner lot. Others say it’s a teenager practicing hope. Whoever it is, we see you—and we feel it. So next time you’re at the post office (maybe waiting for it to reopen after lunch), pause. Smile. Because in Montrose, even our mailboxes believe in love notes.
🍴 Fairhope Social Club Set to Open Downtown
A new spot is about to join the downtown Fairhope dining scene—Fairhope Social Club is moving into the old “My Place” location at 14 N. Church St. This one’s got people talking. It’s the latest project from Jessica Barnhill (of Rae’s Kitchen), along with partners Drew Burroughs and Noah Matthews. The vibe? Fun, casual, and a little unexpected—with menu items like charcuterie nachos, curly fry salad, and playful sandwiches (yes, even fried bologna). The bar lineup includes cheeky cocktails like Social Club Kool Aid and Giggle Juice. Unlike Rae’s, this place plans to stay open late and on weekends, making it easy to pop in for lunch, dinner, or something in between. No official grand opening date yet, but word is—it’s soon! Let me know if they have a website yet.
🚢 Mobile Adding Cruise Lines in 2026
Big news for the Gulf Coast! Mobile, Alabama is expanding its cruise operations in 2026 with the addition of American Cruise Lines, which joins Carnival Cruise Line as a key presence at the port. American Cruise Lines’ American Symphony will dock four times in March 2026, while Carnival plans to resume year-round sailings in 2027—the first time in five years. On March 22, 2026, both cruise lines will be in port simultaneously, marking a milestone for Mobile’s tourism scene. With new infrastructure like upgraded gangways and expanded parking, Mobile is positioning itself as a premier cruise destination for years to come. Learn more
Eastern Shore REAL ESTATE

📋 New Law. Big Change. What Buyers & Sellers Need to Know
As of April 18, 2025, Alabama law requires that your real estate agent provide and explain two documents before any property tours or listing appointments:
- The RECAD Brokerage Services Disclosure
- A new Agency Disclosure Office Policy (ADOP) explaining the brokerage’s services and compensation.
Most agents don’t bring this up—but I do, because it protects your interests and keeps you fully informed from the start. If you’ve spoken to another agent and haven’t received both of these documents, you may not be getting the transparency you deserve.
