🌿 The Garden with No Fence – A Fairhope Story
Tucked just off a tree-lined street in Fairhope, there’s a little garden that doesn’t wear a name. It isn’t part of a park or a public space, and there’s no picket fence or posted rules—just a curved bed of herbs and blossoms nestled near the sidewalk, where the soil looks freshly turned and the scent of basil rides the breeze.
No one’s quite sure who started it. Some say it began with a row of lavender, planted by a retiree who once taught botany. Others recall a child’s handmade sign that once stood by a patch of cherry tomatoes: “Please pick one. Leave a smile.” Over time, neighbors added to it—oregano from one porch, marigolds from another, and a generous scattering of zinnia seeds blown in on the wind.
It’s never been fenced in, and maybe that’s the magic. Garden gloves and water jugs appear in the early morning hours, and sometimes, someone leaves a bundle of rosemary tied with twine on the bench nearby. It’s unspoken, unofficial, and wholly Fairhope—a place where kindness grows as freely as the mint, and no one ever leaves empty-handed.
🍸 New in Town: Fairhope Social Club Opens on Church Street
Say hello to Fairhope’s newest hotspot! The Fairhope Social Club, now open at 14 N. Church Street, blends a playful vibe with bold flavors—from charcuterie nachos and hot fries to fried tortellini and the jaw-dropping Fairhope Smash burger. But it’s more than just a menu—it’s a mood. Locals can elevate their experience with a $500 annual membership that includes perks like priority seating, extended happy hour, monthly appetizer treats, and a signature t-shirt that says, “I know where the good times are.” Whether you’re here for crispy wings or just the community spirit, Fairhope Social Club is bringing people together, one bite (and sip) at a time.
📚 Community Rallies Behind Fairhope Public Library
In response to the Alabama Public Library Service Board’s decision to halt approximately $42,000 in annual state funding to the Fairhope Public Library over concerns about certain books in the teen section, the local community swiftly mobilized to support the institution. A fundraiser initiated by Read Freely Alabama successfully raised over $42,000 in just five days, ensuring the library’s continued operations. The Fairhope City Council also affirmed its commitment to maintain the city’s annual contribution of around $900,000 to the library.
🍻 Old 31 Brewing Company Expands
Spanish Fort’s beloved Old 31 Brewing Company has been quietly brewing more than just beer—they’ve been growing a true community hub. Locals are buzzing about their new live music nights and rotating food truck Fridays.
🌳 Spanish Fort Spirit Trail
There’s talk of revamping the Spirit Park Trail into a storytelling path with markers that share snippets of local lore—from pirate sightings to Civil War skirmishes. Residents have even submitted family anecdotes and vintage photos to contribute. It’s not confirmed yet, but if it happens, it’ll turn a simple walk into a journey through Spanish Fort’s layered past.
🎉 Delta Fest Rumored for Summer
Whispers are swirling about a new summer event called Delta Fest, a weekend celebration blending live music, kayaking tours, and artisan vendors, all along the banks of the Mobile-Tensaw Delta. It’s still under wraps, but vendors are already being contacted. Picture sunset paddles, bluegrass music, and cold craft cider under the stars. Yes, please.
Eastern Shore REAL ESTATE

Despite major national downturns like the 2008 crash and the COVID-19 recession, home values in Fairhope, Daphne, and Spanish Fort have shown steady long-term growth. A $50K home in 1985 could be worth 5–7x that today (maybe more). Sometimes the best investment is the one you live in.
