📰 EASTERN SHORE NEWS

The Magnolia Mystery Eggs

If you’ve wandered down Magnolia Avenue early enough, you may have seen them: a trio of pastel-painted wooden eggs tucked quietly beneath the same oak tree near the white picket fence. No sign. No explanation. Just a curious bit of joy left for passersby to wonder over.

Locals have started calling them the Magnolia Mystery Eggs—though no one’s claimed them. Some say a retired art teacher leaves them to delight the neighborhood kids. Others insist it’s just Fairhope being Fairhope.

Either way, they’re a gentle reminder that magic doesn’t always knock. Sometimes, it just quietly appears under a tree.

Spotted the eggs? Snap a photo and tag @YourEasternShore. Let’s keep the legend alive.

Exciting News for Local Food Lovers

Fairhope’s beloved Supper Club is making a comeback in a brand-new location with a fresh design. Construction is now underway at its new home, located at the end of Sweetwater Circle as part of a new development called The Preserve at Sweetwater. The original restaurant, which was lost to a fire on Scenic Highway 98 last year, has long been missed by locals. Owned by Cooper Restaurants LLC, the reimagined Supper Club promises a new chapter while honoring its well-loved legacy. More details are expected as the project progresses.

Hop On: Fairhope’s Free Downtown Shuttle

Fairhope visitors and locals can now take advantage of a free downtown shuttle service while exploring the Central Business District. If you’re parked nearby and need a lift to your downtown destination, simply call 251-850-6348 between 10 AM and 4 PM, Monday through Saturday. It’s a convenient way to enjoy all that Downtown Fairhope has to offer.

Daphne’s Tunnel to Nowhere

Beneath the quiet streets of Olde Towne Daphne, a peculiar rumor has been gaining traction—again. Locals whisper of a forgotten tunnel that begins somewhere near the old post office and stretches eastward… to nowhere.

No one agrees where it ends—or if it ever does. Some say it was a storm drain that never got connected. Others believe it was meant to be a Prohibition-era escape route for a speakeasy that never opened. One elderly gentleman claims he crawled partway through it in 1963, only to emerge, confused and dusty, behind a Shell station in Daphne. His family doesn’t talk about it.

The city insists no such tunnel appears on official records. But just last week, a musician near the gazebo swore he felt cool air blowing from a grate that hadn’t existed the day before. “It smelled like earth… and library paste,” he said, before resuming his harmonica solo.

The tunnel has inspired its own share of folklore. A few claim it’s used by night-shift raccoons on their way to the Waffle House. Others believe it’s a portal for particularly determined garden club members.

Whether it’s forgotten infrastructure or just one of those stories folks pass around to keep things interesting, one thing is certain: if you see a hatch you’ve never noticed before, and it’s slightly ajar… maybe just leave it be.

Some places are meant to stay a mystery.

🏡 EASTERN SHORE REAL ESTATE

Real Estate Pulse: Buyer’s Market or Seller’s Market?

One of the questions I hear most often is, “So… is this a buyer’s market or a seller’s market right now?” The answer can shift quickly, especially along the Eastern Shore—but here’s a quick breakdown of what each one means and where we currently stand.

A buyer’s market happens when there are more homes for sale than there are buyers. That gives buyers the upper hand—more choices, more time to decide, and sometimes even better deals.

A seller’s market is the opposite—there are more buyers than homes available. That often leads to quicker sales, higher prices, and multiple offers, especially if the home is well-prepared and priced right.

Right now?
We’re in what you might call a transitional market. Some price ranges and neighborhoods still favor sellers—especially well-priced homes under $600k in prime locations. But we’re seeing signs of balance, and in some cases, longer days on market.

The big takeaway: real estate isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s hyperlocal, and the experience can look very different in Fairhope than it does in Daphne or Spanish Fort.
